Why is good patio furniture so dam expensive?

Good sets run in the 1000s. Just a table umbrella and like 4 chairs. You can get a whole bedroom set for that. I notice home depot sells sets from Hampton Bay that run in the 3 to 400s. I know Hampton Bay makes really crappy fans I don’t expect them to make good patio furniture. What should I look for in a patio set.

because the cheap furniture tends to look cheap, or can’t weather the storms. however, some patio furniture is expensive b/c it’s sold by upscale stores and they have an image to maintain and project.
